Piazza di Santa Croce - 09.03.06
We are outside Santa Croce, an impressive Gothic church containing the tombs of many famous Florentines. Unfortunately, it appears that this church will be a gelato casualty. Our detour to Bar Vivoli has us outside the church at 5:05 PM, and the ticket office has just closed. Take that, Dante: I just passed up visiting your tomb for some cioccolato and a side helping of crema.
Oh well. We have overscheduled the day anyway, and have now hiked the length of Central Florence at least three times today. So we should just take a long break, right? Wrong.
