Piazzale Michelangelo - 09.03.06
Why not cap a long day of walking and museums with . . . a hike over the river, up the river, and then up a hill to the Piazzale Michelangelo. We are thinking it will be 25 painful minutes, and it's getting late, so we are racing the sunset. We want the sweet late-afternoon views of downtown Florence.
The walk is very pleasant. The neighborhood south of the river is pleasant, and the hill (actually a long flight of steps) is really not bad. OK, minor fib: I for one am very out of breath at the top. But the view is worth it. In addition to a copy of David (we have seen the original and both of Florence's copies today), Michelangelo's piazza has killer views over the river to downtown Florence. We take it in and snap photos. If you want to see pretty pictures, check with Dan and Jordan; I understand they are quite handy with a camera. If you want abominations, my photos should be posted soon.
